Sterculia quadrifida - Peanut Tree

Deciduous ornamental tree 5-6m.
White lemon scented flowers with an unusual lantern shape with brownish hairs on the outside.
These fruits open to reveal edible satiny blue-black seeds tasting like peanuts when roasted.
The leaves have been used by Aborigines to treat wounds and stings.
It is a tree of coastal and sub-coastal dry rainforests often near streams or behind the beach.

Cultivation
Fresh seed germinates in a few days.
