Ornamental tree 6-10m with a narrow open crown.
Unrelated to the exotic Frangipani.
Creamy perfumed flowers become golden with age.
Their fruits are the shape of goat's testicle, each lobe stacked with flat chestnut seeds surrounded by a wing.
Soft glossy leaves broadest towards the tip.
Fast growing.
Bird attracting. Hardy.
Found in warmer, wetter rainforests up to 1000m altitude.
Cultivation
It looks best in tough sites where it is forced to stay small and bushy, usually flowering more profusely.
Seed is available in late summer and germinates in a few weeks.
