They are followed by large clusters of red fruits, lasting for some months and providing reliable food for many rainforest birds.
Mass germination of seedlings are often found under parent trees.
It can establish in moist gullies in open forest, but prefers wet rainforest soils, including water-logged areas adjacent to swamps.

Cultivation
Fresh seed germinates in 2-4 months.
